Color of the Year - Tangerine Tango
When you consider a new color for your home or even a piece of fashion, how do you decide from the wide range of color choices? There are so many to choose from that it can get overwhelming. Searching high and low for just the right color can take a ton of time, especially if you aren’t sure where to start. Lucky for you, Pantone picks a color per year that should be the new color trend. The choice this year is an eye-popping reddish-orange, called Tangerine Tango.
Isn’t that a bit bold, you may ask? Not if you use it correctly. You don't have to paint every wall surface in an intense citrus color, but it makes a great accent color. Tangerine Tango instantly perks up a drab space.
I am a huge fan of putting gray with a bright color. This color is no exception. Putting a very neutral color with a surprising pop of color is an easy way to modernize your space.
Orange is also known to improve energy levels. If you feel like you are tired and down at your desk, placing the Tangerine Tango color nearby can give you a jolt of energy, much like an afternoon coffee break. You could try something as simple as flowers, or as brazen as an red-orange colored desk.
For those that have a fearless preference for color, paint one or all of your walls. Remember, it is just paint! You can always fix it if you don't love it. It definitely sets an office apart when there is a surprising use of design, in particular, provocative color choices.
White is over. This is the year of the Tangerine Tango.
“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
Would you use a color like this in your office? Why or why not?
