Have More Fun at Work-its Essential!

As an entrepreneur, I go through what I call the "I don't feel like doing anything" phase and its not fun. Its usually after going through a period of non stop work and where I end up feeling burned out or just not wanting to do anything work related. I know I'm not the only one out there who has gone through this and there are even a ton of books dedicated to avoiding this feeling. I got to thinking about what I could do to avoid this or at least keep the feeling away as much as possible and came to this conclusion: Have more fun.

Here are a few ways to have more fun and still get stuff done:

-Step away from your desk at least a few times a day. I don't just mean bathroom breaks, I mean go and sit in another part of your office (or house if you work from home), go for a walk, read a magazine and do anything other than work for a few minutes. You'll come back feeling refreshed. Some offices are even taking it a step further and having their office literally move around.

-Plan "fun" work days ahead of time like working at a coffee shop for a change of scenery, planning a beach day in the middle of the week or a quick work field trip.

-Perk up your desk with fun and colorful office supplies. It may sound silly but stepping away from the "corporate" look and using desk accessories in colors that inspire you will help. Having a nice work environment is after all what Turnstone is all about, just check out the bright office chairs, accessories and colorful office furniture.

Having things that inspire me or routines that add a mix into my work day helps me feel more inspired and definitely more creative. Its important in the work that I do (and most work) that I be creative and continue to grow in my creativity. What better way to do that than to have fun at work and avoid feeling burnt out?
