How to: Create a PDF

Share:

As business communications take to digital technologies more and more every day it's inevitable that you'll be receiving documents from clients and companies. These documents should be PDF's and they're very easy to make - allow me to show you how. I'm going to walk you through creating a PDF on your Macintosh computer, the process is different for PC's.

How to make a PDF

I've created a document in Pages. This will work no matter where you create your document on your Mac, could be a .txt file, a downloaded file, and even something in Neo-Office etc etc. When you're ready to save your file as a PDF simply select PRINT in your drop down menu.

You'll see your Print Prompter pop up like so:

Down in the left hand corner is a tab for PDF, click for the drop down menu:

Which looks like this - and choose SAVE AS PDF.

Name your file and where you'd like it to save (for myself, the desktop). Select SAVE and it'll automatically show up on your desktop (or in the file folder you selected to save-to) How to make a PDF

VIOLA! Adding that same PDF file to an email is just as easy. Compose your email and before you hit send (BEFORE! BEFORE!) select ATTACH.

Attaching files to email

A window will pop up where you can select the file to attach - in our case the PDF we just made "ImmaShowYou.pdf" and "Choose File"

That's it! You've successfully made a PDF file and attached it to your correspondence. This is how it'll look to the recipient:

For the PC users, I recommend the free version of Primo PDF if you’re having trouble saving directly to .pdf format in Word. After you download the software, you can just go to your print menu and select Primo as your printer. Just be sure to unclick the security option that prevents it from printing out if you plan to send the file to someone who will need to print it!
