Working Every Angle of a Home Office Redo

Share:

Usually you refer to your office or workspace as your Home Away from Home but where do you work when you are home? There are many professionals who work solely out of their homes or a coworking space. I shared how I got around not even having an office at home and tips on creating workflow earlier this year. Since then we've moved both personally and professionally. Now there's a space I'm working on making an actual office at home for myself (through the door ...)

Home for now

It's a little rough, no? Actually I'm a fan and with some creative wall coverings and a little more electricity I have a vision for a haven for workflow. When you're deciding to revamp your own home office or find a space to create one there's a few key things to keep in mind:

one

Space, being the biggest one. Do you have space or are you creating space (even borrowing?) from other rooms?

You can borrow space from a closet or share a guest bedroom with the office. You can turn a breakfast nook into a great space for a home office as well as walk in closets. One wall offices are a great solution to space saving as well.

two

Hang time space. Are you sharing your office, either with other employees or contractors, do you have client meetings in your office? Or have a need for additional studio space?

A plan. With Turnstone's iPad app you can space plan and even demo furniture in your space. A digital sketch book with ideas and inspiration built right in. Do you work from home or have a home office in your plans for the new year? How do you tackle your space and what makes it unique for you?

San Diego Office Furniture January 7, 2012

Now I’m really feeling the luxury of having a whole spare bedroom for my office. Of course, my husband is getting kicked out of his office to make that into a nursery. So, we’re looking for ways to carve some space out of the front room. We’re thinking of using an accordion style divider to make a moveable wall in there.
