Why You Should Add a Game Room
Some days at work can be brutal, just ask any of your employees. Either a client is taking his mood out on you, you dropped the ball on a project or sometimes it’s just one of “those days.” When you’re in need of a quick break or “de-stresser”, a Game Room is the perfect thing. The Game Room is not just for large companies like Google, but for any company that wants to boost staff morale, attract young & hip employees, and create a fun, yet cool office environment.
What it’s used for:
- Playing Games(obvious right?)
- Taking a break from work or the stress of the workday
- Interacting and socializing with co-workers
In a nutshell: It’s where employees go to clear their heads + have a little fun.
Size, Shape and what it looks like:
A Game Room doesn’t need to be in a room at all. Ideally a separate closed off space that has enough space to comfortably store whichever games you like to include: TV + video games, board games, ping pong table and a lot more. The key thing to keep in mind is to have the Game Room (or area) be far away from people who are currently working. You don’t want to create a distraction by having a ping pong table in the middle of a row of desks where other people are trying to get work done.
Create a Game Room Today
Ideally you should choose a space near the kitchen area or break-room of your office. It’s already a space that is used to step back from work so it won’t be a distraction to other employees. If you’re limited on space, try putting up a divider like the Campfire Screen and have an area where employees can play video games with a headset so they don’t distract anyone else.
Suggest a Game Room
If you’re working for someone else and think your office may be a good fit for a Game Room, try casually mentioning this post in an email to your boss or supervisor. Your office may have it’s own suggestion box so be sure to drop a note in mentioning a couple of the benefits of a Game Room and why you need one.
