Threadless was never intended to be a business, it was just a fun thing to do and engage the design community. It began with an entry into a design competition and from there the idea of having an ongoing t-shirt competition where people could submit their designs and the best would be printed emerged.

Threadless now has hosts of designs submitted every day and has evolved to be a fantastic little company with a huge following and great community. The culture they display on the web isn't too different from what they have in their office, an environment of openness, some silliness, and even office dogs.
