There’s no place like home, but there’s no denying that workplaces play an important role in our lives. With as much time we spend at the office, it’s only natural that people would want to make the workplace more like home. In fact, the trend of bringing residential influences into the workplace has become so popular that it has its own name: resimercial design.

Resimercial design blurs the lines between residential and office design, making the workplace a more comfortable place to be. Interested in bringing this trend to your office? Here are five ways to get started.

This lounge features a variety of seating options, including Campfire Big Lounge sofas, a Shortcut X Base chair, and a Buoy. A Bassline table with a customized top is in the center.

1. Comfortable Seating

After a long day at work, there’s nothing going home, sitting down, and relaxing in your favorite chair. When creating lounges or collaborative spaces, choose seating that looks like it could easily fit in a residential living room. Sofas like Bivi Rumble Seats and Campfire Big Lounges both help people feel right at home. For added comfort, Campfire Wedges can be paired with Campfire Big Lounges to create armrests. Jenny Round Low and Jenny Club Low chairs are other great seating options for these spaces.

Jenny Club Low chairs, paired with accessories like the Campfire Footrest, Campfire Personal Tables, and Jenny End Table, make it easy to feel at home at the office.

2. Put Your Feet Up

Being able to put your feet up is relaxing, and after working at a desk, the change in posture is healthy, too. Campfire Footrests make a great addition to lounge areas and can also be used at standing desks to help people change position while they work. Campfire Ottomans can function both as a footrest and as impromptu lounge seating.

3. Modern Tables

Work surfaces are essential in the workplace, and the right tables can create a home-like atmosphere. Bassline tables fit the trend perfectly. Their elegant, modern design looks right at home in an office lounge or living room, and they’re available in a wide range of shapes and sizes to fit any space.

4. Planters and Greenery

Plants are nice to look at, but they make a valuable addition to the workplace for many reasons, such as reducing stress, boosting creativity, and improving air quality. While some offices have added living plant walls to their spaces, there are easy ways to bring this comfort of home to the office. Bivi Holders have an optional planter insert that lets you add a bit of greenery to any Bivi Desk.

5. Personalize Your Space

What better way to bring a little bit of home to work than by giving people ways to personalize their workstation? Bivi Metal Screens and Tackable Screens easily attach to Bivi desks to give people a way to hang up their favorite photos, drawings by their kids, and other personal mementos. As an added benefit, these screens also add privacy to open workstations.
